Synopsis

Ever since she helped kick start the punk movement in Britain with former partner Malcolm McLaren in the 1970s, Vivienne Westwood has been a hugely influential figure in the world of fashion and beyond, reshaping our sense of style, but also drawing attention to important political causes. Incorporating archive footage, reconstructions, and interviews with many of Westwood’s most significant peers and collaborators, this documentary takes us on a journey from her childhood growing up in postwar rural Derbyshire to being at the centre of the fashion world for more than forty years. An iconic figure of her time, the film also chronicles her ongoing political activism and struggle to hold onto what she sees as the integrity of her brand.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
