Synopsis

When Amanda’s mum asks Lily to help her daughter with her studies, the two teenage girls rekindle an old friendship in their Connecticut suburb. Lily is captivated by Amanda, particularly her sinister side, and the spark between the two quickly escalates to the point that they flippantly discuss the idea of killing Lily’s nasty stepfather Mark. As each continues to influence the other, the plan soon moves from the realm of the theoretical into a more serious possibility, and together they decide to enlist the assistance of a small-time drug dealer to help them pull it off. Directorial debut ‘Thoroughbreds’ is a dark, witty thriller which revels in the wickedness of its teenage protagonists.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
