Coming of Age, Drama
Widowed father and former musician Frank is feeling uninspired after he decides to shut down his declining Brooklyn vinyl shop. His teenage daughter Sam is also going through changes as she prepares to leave home for college and starts falling in love with a girl called Rose during the summer. Impressed by Sam’s songwriting skills during their revived jam sessions in the living room, Frank begs her to form a band with him. However, when he uploads one of their songs online and they garner local attention, the two must confront the fact they have separate ambitions in the long-term. This charming film explores music as a therapeutic art form and new beginnings, while also featuring authentic and much-needed representation of queer teenage girls.
