Drama, Period and Historical
Set in 1960, 14 year-old Joe and his parents have recently moved to suburban Montana, the latest in a series of relocations due to his father Jerry constantly changing jobs. After he’s again fired, perhaps unfairly so, Jerry decides to take work fighting the community's rampant forest wildfires, much to the incredulity of his wife Jeanette. As Joe worries evermore about his parents’ relationship and what the future holds for his family, he struggles to concentrate on other aspects of his life, such as school work, making friends, or thinking about a prospective career of his own. Instead, Joe does everything in his power to keep his family together in this emotional, empathetic film which tells its story through the eyes of its teenage protagonist, and has been adapted from the novel of the same name.
Awkward teen Duncan comes of age on a summer vacation to a water park, where the cool staff help him ignore the jibes of his mum's new boyfriend.
