Synopsis

With the ratings for her late-night chat show at an all-time low, host Katherine Newbury aims to shake things up by hiring a female comedy writer to her all-male team. Enter Molly Patel, a factory worker with dreams of breaking into comedy. After she is miraculously hired on a short-term basis, Molly soon realises that the gender imbalance of the writer’s room, along with Katherine’s hard-edged attitude towards her staff, means the job will be even more difficult than she first suspected. This socially-conscious but disarmingly sweet comedy is not afraid to tackle important subjects such as gender disparity and infidelity whilst giving insight into both the nuances of writing for live television and the difficulties faced by women in the workplace.
