Based on a famous Italian children’s novel, this gorgeously animated and innovative film takes place in the mountains and wider country of Sicily in Italy. When two travelling entertainers find themselves having to shelter from a raging blizzard in a cave, they are surprised to run into an aging bear inside. Desperate not to be eaten, they begin to tell the story of Leonce, the King of Bears, and how a sudden kidnapping led to a great war between the men and bears of Sicily. Littered with excitement, rebellion and a heaping of sorcery, this intriguing and distinctive tale is told with great style whilst also acting as an anti-war allegory that will resonate with all ages.
