Period and Historical
Danish (English subtitles)
Celebrated chef Babette escapes an uprising in the Paris of the 1870s and flees to the bleak but beautiful countryside of Jutland (most of which is now modern day Denmark), where two elderly, repressed sisters take her in. In return, Babette becomes the chef for their religious community, never revealing her glamorous past. Years pass in this secretive manner, until Babette wins the lottery - and spends all of it on one stupendously delicious last supper.
Acclaimed Danish film made according to the Dogme 95 principles about a celebratory family dinner that goes horribly wrong.
