Adapted from his autobiography, Bound for Glory tells the story of legendary American folk singer Woody Guthrie. Guthrie was born in Oklahoma, married in Texas and travelled to California looking for work during the hard times of the great Depression in the 1930s. The film follows him on his travels from down-at-heel sign painter to impassioned activist, casting a friendly and slightly nostalgic eye over the American landscape and history without neglecting Guthrie's own hardships and relationships.
