Sometimes, wisdom can be found in the most unlikely of places. Sometimes, on the other hand, it can't - and that's what lies at the heart of the hilarious but thought-provoking Being There. When a wealthy resident of Washington DC dies, his simple-minded gardener Chance finds himself out on the streets - but is soon taken in by another rich benefactor, who takes his humble talk of gardening as being a series of meaningful statements about the state of the world. And soon the entire country follows suit, elevating Chance to the status of national hero - and perhaps even the next president!
This mockumentary is about a highly conservative folk singer called Bob Roberts, who starts a campaign to become senator of Pennsylvania.
