Synopsis

If you thought alien life could only be found in outer space, nerve-jangling action adventure The Abyss will give you a different otherworldly experience. A US nuclear submarine crashes and the government enlist underwater drilling experts to locate and salvage the stricken vessel. However, as the crews get closer to their target, they realise it's something more than they expected - and soon, strange events begin to unfold that will impact the very future of the world. With pioneering special effects that remain impressive today, this film was a crucial part of the development of director James Cameron.
