Synopsis

Set in the early 1950s, Mona Lisa Smile tells the inspirational story of a young teacher, Katherine Watson, who - on graduating from college - accepts a teaching job at a school for posh girls. With her encouragement, the girls find the strength to be who they really are rather than what their parents and society expects them to be.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
