This is the harrowing and remarkable true-life story of German-American pilot Dieter Dengler. Dieter always wanted to learn to fly - and in the 1960s, he joins the US army to make his dream come true. During the Vietnam war he is shot down over Laos and held in a prisoner of war camp. Conditions are terrible, the treatment is barbaric and his fellow captives see no way out. Yet Dieter remains positive despite everything, and plans to escape. But the jungle that surrounds him may prove even more dangerous and hostile than the prison. This is an engrossing, riveting thriller from one of the master filmmakers of modern times.
A powerful depiction of events in Cambodia in the 1970s, when the fanatical Khmer Rouge regime killed hundreds of thousands of their own people.
