This drama is based on the real-life memoir by writer Blake Morrison, and focuses on the complex relationship he had with his father, Arthur. When Arthur is diagnosed with a terminal illness, Blake is forced to confront uncomfortable memories of a man he has grown to resent. Moving between the present and flashbacks of the past, this frank and touching drama benefits hugely from the performances of a great cast, led by Colin Firth and the ever-reliable Jim Broadbent.
