Action and Adventure, Silent
Predating Errol Flynn's 1938 outing in the famous green tights and cap, swashes are buckled in this silent version - a film that established most of the cinematic images of Robin Hood we now hold dear. An introduction sets the scene of the outlawing of the noble Earl of Huntington, forcing him to don "the hood" and take on the dastardly Prince John together with his cohorts Sir Guy of Gisbourne and, of course, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Then, once the acrobatic Douglas Fairbanks gets going in the role of Robin, it's all proves incredibly exciting stuff.
The most famous of all the film versions of the tale of the Nottinghamshire outlaw, this swashbuckling 1930s tale stars the great Errol Flynn.
