Melodrama from acclaimed director Douglas Sirk. Brother and sister Kyle and Marylee Hadley are wealthy, spoiled and temperamental. Kyle's best friend Mitch Wayne has worked hard to get ahead in the Hadley family oil business, and Marylee has always loved him - but he's not interested in her. In fact, Mitch and Kyle both desire the same girl, Lucy, who Kyle swiftly marries. But although the marriage initially seems to be Kyle's salvation, it's actually the beginning of the end for him - as jealousy, alcoholism, greed and deep, dark secrets play a part in the downfall of all four characters.
PLEASE BE AWARE: After ordering Written On The Wind the disc you will receive will be marked as being a 12 certificate - however, this relates to the extra features on the DVD and not the film itself, which is certified with the BBFC as a PG.
Into Film has consulted the BBFC, and their guidance is that as long as a club leader screens only the film (and not additional features or audio commentaries etc), Written On The Wind can be treated as a PG certificate in a school setting.
