Classic comedy western starring Jane Fonda as Cat Ballou, a young schoolteacher driven to desperate measures. A villainous Englishman has hired notorious outlaw Tim Strawn to intimidate her clan, but Cat has her own gunslingers to call on. The only problem is, two of them are wannabes, and the other is a drunken has-been called Kid Shelleen, who happens to be Strawn's brother. The film follows the outrageous antics of Cat and her gang, as she seeks revenge on the bad guys and becomes a very unlikely (but successful) outlaw.
This 1960s musical, coming after the genre's golden age, attempts to rekindle the form with tough-guy stars and a more adult plot.
