Roy is a stuntman in 1920s Hollywood who is in hospital after attempting to impress an actress with a dangerous stunt. When there, though depressed and suicidal, he enraptures a young fellow patient, Alexandria with a series of fantastical tales about five legendary heroes who are seeking revenge on the evil Governor Odious. The film shifts between reality - with many of the hospital staff and patients becoming part of the story - and spectacular fantasy, reminiscent of films such as Pan's Labyrinth and The Wizard of Oz as Roy's tales are acted out in Alexandria's vivid imagination.
The Princess Bride takes apart the traditional damsel-in-distress story and puts it back together again. A classic for children of all ages.
