French (English subtitles)
Based on French writer/artist Jean Cocteau's novel, this film revolves around the charged relationship between a young man and his sister. The film was only director Jean-Pierre Melville's second, and the much more established Cocteau was ever present on set, vying for artistic control, but the confident and striking visual style achieved here is evident in Melville's later, more celebrated movies. A big influence on the French New Wave of the 1960s.
Acclaimed Danish film made according to the Dogme 95 principles about a celebratory family dinner that goes horribly wrong.
