Juno, directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody, is an Indie film that has the same success ratings as any Hollywood blockbuster– that in itself speaks volumes! Based around a teenage girl faced with an unexpected pregnancy who enlists the help of friends and family to guide her encouragingly towards the correct path, this film tackles a controversial situation like no other existing film. With reliance on stereotypes and cliché Juno’s character, is such a success for several reasons; firstly, the mere fact that Ellen Page (the actress who plays Juno) is most definitely such an outstanding actress who simply seems to be able to mold herself in to this role seamlessly. In addition, the empathy created by Juno as a character is phenomenal and the way in which the audience can so easily relate to this character binds the whole film together. In my opinion this film, as its name suggests (indie), is like no other and no other film in the future, or films of the past, and has the ability to trump this phenomenon as the unique and quirkiness is a one off and can never be repeated. Overall I would recommend this to all ages as it’s a sour-edged and sweet-encased film which has the ability to appeal to all.
