When I first began to watch the film I didn't think I would be interested because it wasn't the genre of film I would usually watch. However, as the film progressed I began to grasp the plot and started to understand the characters. One example of this was the character called Shylock who immediately caught my eye because he made me begin to question whether he was the victim or villian. Shylock was portrayed by the famous Al Pacino who I thought did an excelllent job. Also I thought the rest of the cast portrayed their characters well throughout the film. The director Michael Radford told the story of Shakespeare's tradegy play The Merchant of Venice in an interesting way and chose the actors wisely. The film runs for a total time of 126 minutes, I would recommend the film to people who enjoy Shakespeare's plays and for people who want to explore different aspects of this author. One problem I do have with the film is I think the age certificate should not be a PG. I think this because there are some scenes that are not suitable for people younger than 12.
Print this reviewThis film about US high finance made ruthless corporate moneyman Gordon Gekko one of cinema's great villains, even idolised by some bank executives.
