I am not keen on war films. some are too patriotic, some are too bravery-orientated, and some are just boring. all quite on the western front is none of these to me. it is a beatiful hollywood epic on the brutality of war that is not that easy to forget. the first 10-15 mins shows a teacher telling his pupils to go to the army and fight for germany. this rest is a epic that is still remebered today. with it's great emotional moments (the final moment with the butterfly is a film moment that will always stay with me), all quiet on the western front is a masterpiece.
