The Breakfast Club (1985)

This is the third John Hughes film that I have seen, the other two being Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Home Alone which are both very good films. Out of the three John Hughes films that I've seen I can definitely say that The Breakfast Club is the best. I look forward to seeing more of John Hughe's films from the 1980s such as Weird Science and 16 Candles but I doubt that any of them can beat The Breakfast Club in terms of quality. The Breakfast Club is about five teenagers that are sent to detention on a Saturday all for different reasons that are found out during the movie. All five of these teenagers think that there all very different from each other because they just see each other as a "nerd", a "jock", a "weirdo", a "princess" and a "trouble maker", but throughout the movie they begin to talk to each other and find out that there is more to all of them than just their labels. They all tell each other all of their different problems and feelings and try to help each other. This film's target audience would be teenagers I assume and I think that it certainly succeeds in being a great teen movie. It's often praised as being the definitive 80s teen movie and I'll definitely second that staement. If there are any teenagers who have a few problems and family troubles then I think that The Breakfast Club is a great film for them to watch because it shows them that other people have problems similar to there's and that there not alone. The performances in this movie are all great but my favourite was Judd Nelson as John Bender ("The trouble maker") because he really showed how has character was always making fun of everybody just to hide how upset he was inside . The Breakfast Club is one of the best films that I've seen and I definitely have to give it a 5/5. I would recommend it to pretty much anyone around my age group.
