Sinbad the sailor is a well known character through legend. Ray Harryhausen and Gordon Hessler have made the tales of the stupendous sailor into a fast paced action movie. The basic plot : Whislt on a voyage, Sinbad (John Philip Law) and his crew see a creature flying through the air clutching a piece of a disk. After the creature was speared down, Sinbad decieded to find more infomation in a nearby city. He took the disk peice with him. Consulting the ruler of the city, Sinbad learns that him and his companions must complete the disk and forfill the prophecy by throwing it into the pool of immortality. All before, of course, the evil Koura ( Tom Baker- later to become the 4th Doctor Who) does! There are many good fight scenes in the film, but the best for me, by far, is the fight between Sinbad & his crew and the 6-armed statue, who is based on a Hindu God. In my opinion, the best character was Koura, the evil wizard, played by Tom Baker, who plays him in a fantastic way. All in all, it is a fantastic film with amazing affects ( they didn't use any computers while making the monsters come to life- I think that's unbelievable). I would give it 8 and a half out of ten.
