A-Ha, 1963, one of the best years of Britain ever if I dare say. In that year we saw the beatles, Doctor who, and prehaps best of all the return of James Bond 007.This is the second James Bond film after Dr No, From Russia With Love features many of elements that would become familiar to fans as the series became ever-more popular - superb action sequences, John Barry's instantly recognisable music, and the first appearance of gadget guru Q. Star Sean Connery is electric as 007 - here assigned the task of guarding a Russian decoding device. Among those sent to forcibly retrieve it from him are Rosa Klebb, a formidable KGB agent with an unusual taste in footwear, and heavy Red Grant - surely one the most fearsome adversaries the suave and sophisticated Bond has ever faced, Blofeld. As always Sean Connery brings a certain magnetic influence to his role, something that only he (apart from prehaps Denial Craig) can do. This DVD release is part of a great special edition, witch I know because I have it. This is a great film to get on DVD. It is much better then the start of Bond series, DR NO, and better still is the next film, Gold finger!!! Staring Robert Shaw, Sean Connery, Lotte Lenya, Daniela Bianchi, Pedro Armendariz, and directed by Terence Young. Made 1963. Viewing time 115 mins.
