This dramatic feature film tells the story of a young boy from a farm who goes to a school in the city run by a corrupt, volatile headmaster. Set in the 60's it reflects the attitudes of the era, and the cruel use of corporal punishment in schools as a representation of abuse of authority. The film features complex characters who are fully realised on screen by the stunning cast. It shows the rough journey taken by a family determined to gain justice for the horrific abuse performed on their child. The film is also based on a true story, and whilst some scenes may be over-dramatized in order to highlight a particular message, most of the film is true to the events that happened back in the 1960's. The film contains some fairly graphic scenes, so would be most suitable for children over 12, and in some cases with the accompaniment of an adult. Throughout there are subtle references to life lessons that would otherwise take years to learn whilst still remaining entertaining and interesting. I believe that the cast epitomizes a well chosen selection, and captures the audience's interest from start to finish.
