This film explores a world where technological intervention determines the expectancy of a persons life in terms of health and what their future will hold, through the process of genetic modification that has become commonplace. It relates to a much deeper level of what could be descrimination based on an idividuals genetic makeup, which is similar to other qualities people possess which they cannot control and may be used against them, such as their race (in the modern day). I particularly like the fact that the concept in itself reveals a fightining possiblity that will most likely become a real issue, blending fact and fiction by using revolutionary human technology that most people are unaware of and might not believe in. While the concept was excellent, the story mixed with it only to a certain degree, alot more could of been done that was to do with the descrimination against people without perfect genetic makeups. Instead, the story followed a romance/crime element later on, which made the film seem too broad in perspective where it could of stuck to its main idea. The film was also quite long, and trailed off at times, becoming no more than a crime thriller rather than a science fiction. However, i hope to see more films where very possible future technologys are implimented and their effects on society are explored. It works so well because the seemingly revolutinary change in human civilisation that comes with these breakthroughs has a more shocking change on the world, much like in this film, where genetic modification, which is thought to be the start of a world without disease and human problems, actually creates something much more surprising and gives the viewer alot to think about.
