This film is amazing!!!! I had wanted to see it forever!! I was in a production of Bugsy Malone where I played a showgirl and the way that my drama teacher had explained how we feel towards Tallulah was the same way that "The Plastics" felt towards Regina George. Now everyone reacted well to this and completely understood and even started spontaneously spouting Mean Girls quotes for no reason and I was left feeling rather confused because I hadn't seen the movie. So after a while having wanted to see it forever I decided that I wanted to find a way to see this film and that was when my Filmclub teacher Miss Stewart had said that we were going to watch teen films and that our next movie was Mean Girls!!! I was SOOOO pleased!!
Now on to what I think about the movie having seen it. It was amazing!! The comedy in it is perfect, it is so funny. This is a great movie to watch with friends as you will find yourelves in fits of laughter.
I think that this is definitely a teen girl movie. I do know boys that have watched it and enjoyed it too so the gender it is aimed at is quite flexible but I don't think that you will enjoy it if you are too young as you won't understand the jokes but adults would probabaly like it too.
On to characters. I thought that the characters were very accurately portrayed and that they really did resemble a typical high school, because whether you want to admit it or not every school does have that one Regina George and her very own group of Plastics. I must admit though having been subjected to everyone around me constantly saying "You go Glen Coco!" (and me being one of those people now) I did think that Glen Coco would have been a bigger character but whatever.
Now I often get at a movie if it doesn't have a very good musical score, this film really didn't have a good one BUT I will make an exception because the film is based more like a reality show (if that makes sense) so there isn't really too big a need for music, the comedy speaks for itself.
Now as far as the plot goes I will say the same as I did for characters, despite many stereotypes this is pretty much what school life is like and that makes it VERY FUNNY!!!!!
I would recommend this to anyone who needs a quick pick-me-up or is in the mood to laugh. Grab some friends, popcorn, sweets, sit somewhere comfy, prepare to laugh and get ready to enjoy a simply splendid cinematic experience!
