If I had hours to write this review, and everyone else had hours to read it, then I'd possibly be able to tell all the reasons why I love this film. Since I do not, I'll simply say the main point, which is that I grew up with this movie on my television. I actually watched it so often that the video tape (yes, you read that correctly, we had a VCR player) broke! My Dad had to go out and buy the DVD version, which we still have to the day.
This film is a heart-warming yet exciting film full of friendship and love. It's not particularly scary any more, in my opinion, but some parts may be seen as a little frightening, especially those staring vampire hunter Rookery, portrayed by Downton Abbey star Jim Carter. The film also stars Jonathan Lipnicki from the Stuart Little films, and Anna Popplewell who is known mostly for her part as Susan in the Narnia movie adaptations. This cast is so easy to love that they've been in my heart since I was very young.
Finally, I'd like to express my love for the Music Score by Nigel Clarke too, which brings more emotion than the dialogue itself. It's memorable, and still warms my heart whenever I hear it. I'd recommend this film to families of all ages, just so I can share the magic and beauty which the tale of a little boy and his vampire best friend brought me.
