Whats eating gilbert grape was romantic and very sad. It wasn't very exciting which didnt make it a good film. Some parts were funny but a lot was sad. I like the actors in it, there is Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. There was pretty much no action in the film which made it a bit boring. The setting is South America, a hot, dry place and I think it is a good place to set it. What the cast wore matched with the setting which worked well. It wasn't a very fast paced film and I probably wouldn't watch it a second time. I recommend it to age 9+.
