The main highlight of Christmas is the presents, but nevertheless,
no Christmas can be complete without this animated short.
It is based around a young boy who builds a snowman,
but that snowman
comes alive and takes him on a journey.
But that's not the main highlight, is it?
No, the REAL highlight is the animation.
This goes back to Disney's early days:
Snow White, Fantasia, Dumbo, Pinocchio, you know what I mean.
Raymond Briggs must have took months sketching this all out.
He has to make twenty-four frames just for a single
second. Yes, one second is twenty-four frames,
so overall, there's about thirty-thousand frames in this movie,
if not more.
I know that it's six months till Christmas (I'm writing this part on
9th June and I don't know when I'm gonna upload this), but
The Snowman is an essential part of Christmas. And I
can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd take it over Home Alone
any day.
Shocking.
Positively shocking.
007 fans rejoice, cause that quote was from Goldfinger.
