Monty Python And The Holy Grail (1974)

The team of Monty Python brings yet another belly laugh inducing movie to the big screen (well sort of). Many familiar faces return but a few new personas also arise this time around. Arthur(Graham Chapman) starts his quest to recruit his Knights of the Round Table:Sir Bedevere the Wise(Terry Jones), Sir Lancelot the Brave(John Cleese), Sir Galahad the Pure(Michael Palin), and Sir Robin(Eric Idle). When Arthur has recruited them they arrive at camelot but upon gazing at it they come to the conclusion that "tis a silly place". They are then ordered by God to seek the Holy Grail. This film served as great entertainment with its extraordinary cast and slapstick humor. The Terry's used all available cast to their full potential and as a result all of them shone in their roles. Due to lack of funding many of the actors played more than one character for example, Chapman played 4 roles in this movie. Also real horses were replaced by men banging coconuts together. This became a source of comedy material for the cast to work with. True to Monty Python's style the film was relatively short but sweet with a running time of 91 minutes. There were times when it felt as nothing was going to happen but the hilarious exchanges of dialogue and great acting kept the audience interested from start to finish. Despite the films budget issues, Monty Python and the Holy Grail became one of the best comedies of all time. Well worth anyones time.
