Wondrous Oblivion Set in the 1960s, Wondrous Oblivion is an amazing film about a young boy, David Wiseman (Sam Smith),who loves cricket, but isn't the best at it. His teacher makes him scorer for every lesson when he misses a catch in a tournament. With an empty house next door to the Wisemans, the neighbours all wonder who would soon be moving in. No one knows who’s moving in until a taxi pulls up and a foreign family, the Samuel household, steps out. As soon as they settle in, the Jamaican family set to work by putting turf in the back garden and then building a net around it. The rest of the neighbourhood aren’t impressed that the new family have a different shade of skin and, therefore, go out of their way to avoid them. The neighbours, and the Wisemans, are curious about these newcomers. Soon, David finds out that the new family plays cricket and he wants to play too. Mr.Samuel says, “Ah! Now theres a pro at cricket!” But then realises he's totally wrong, because David can’t play very well. David quickly becomes friends with Judy (the daughter) and they have an amazing friendship. David’s father is blackmailed by the neighbours who are keen to get rid of their new neighbours. David’s dream to become an amazing player of the school cricket team may come true…………………………… A brilliant film for 9 plus to watch. There is a very important message in this movie that’s very true: that everyone should be treated the same no matter what. Please watch and enjoy!!!! :D By Emilia
