As a thrilling, spectacle-filled summer movie, Independence Day delivers on every level. The fact that it was made in the late 90s kind of helps, because the Roland Emmerich-like disaster element is very unrealistic, but it's the 90s, so I tolerate it anyways. Will Smith I think could have been in it a bit more, and his character is a bit underdeveloped. Anybody could have played his character. Bill Pullman as the President was my favourite thing in the whole movie. He was so awesome and maybe could be the best movie president of all time. I can think of may more films way better than this, but for what it is, Independence Day is amazing! The CGI is thrilling for it's time, and might rise my rating up although the length and overstuffing of the whole film is a flaw. So get some popcorn, invite your friends, and watch Independence Day on surround sound.
