When Wonder Woman started, I could practically feel the excitement in the room. Having recently seen Christopher Nolan Dark Knight which is also a superhero movie, which I didn't like on the whole very much, I wasn't really looking forward to Wonder Woman. However, I was determined to watch it because it was a female superhero movie and that grabbed my attention. The minute the film started I was intrigued, everything about it was full of life and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) was simply brilliant.
Princess Diana is the daughter of Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen). Living in the land of Themyscira were there are no other children, a world were only woman live and who prepare for war which will someday come. Princess Diana wishes she could join in with the other woman who fight so gracefully and elegantly although her mother forbids it. When the lands best warrior offers to teach Diana everything she knows, Queen Hippolyta is forced to agree, on one condition, Diana must end up the best warrior. When a man (Chris Pine) called Steve Trevor who is a spy from London arrives in Themyscira with Nazis following him many years later, a war breaks out. Determind to help, Diana agrees to go with Steve Trevor to London were, not only does she have to fit in and not draw attention to herself, she must also save the country from a evil plan hatched by Dr. Maru AKA Doctor Poison (Elena Anaya) and General Erich Ludendorff (Danny Huston) to save mankind.
I think what makes Wonder Woman as a film so brilliant is because how unique she is as a character. She is a role model to girls, determined and strong as well as loving. She refuses to wear what woman wore in the times of WW2 because they are uncomfortable, things do not kill her like other people and she is truly a hero. Doctor Poison is strange, with a mask covering a quarter of her face. Why she had this we do not know. She is an interesting villain because of what she does, how she works with other people to hatch evil plans rather than working on her own and taking all the credit.
One huge mistake in Wonder Woman is it is unclear when it was supposed to be taken. Many clues give us the idea it is taken in WW2 because there are Nazis yet there also are trenches which happened only in WW1. I personally think it was taken in WW1 or at least was meant to be. This brilliant film is so amazing that small mistakes like when the film was meant to be set is unnecessary. This film was always full of action and, unlike many superhero movies, was full of colour which added a brilliant effect to the way everything looked, in dark places Wonder Woman stands out as an individual and on the small island of Themyscira were everything is beautiful and colourful everything looks like it is full of life which gives you a sense of warmth and comfort.
I think this film ought to be watched by children who want to watch a good, interesting and unique superhero movie. Those who are age 10 and older who are capable of handling scary, gripping and exciting movies were you are by the end, taken away.
