A Great Mix of Humor and Tragedy:
While I was watching this film I saw clearly how the story integrates with the actual pirate, threat, fear and tragedy aspect, mixes perfectly with the comedy that bounces between Johnny Depp's character Jack Sparrow as well as Angus Barnett and Giles New's characters playing the comedic duo of Murtogg (Giles) and Mullroy (Angus) the comedy of a drunken, mutinied, captain of a legendary ship The Black Pearl and two oblivious Royal Navy Officers. This is also mixed my characters such as Elizabeth Swann, (Keira Knightley) William Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Captain Hector Barbossa. (Geoffrey Rush) Well let's get to the Good Aspects of the film
Pros-
Integration- The best aspect of this film is the integration of comedy and seriousness, this integration comes with the characters, style and story. One point you have Captain Barbossa being a real pirate and Jack Sparrow being a bit of a goofball and the movie compares the two showing how much of a great pirate Barbossa is and it shows how much of a bad pirate Jack is, though at times he can be a good pirate and can be smarter than the rest of the group and having them together creates a recipe for disaster.
Visual Effects- My gosh! How they would pull off stuff like cannons, ships being damaged, the waves and just the general sea, I don't know how they do it without visual effects, though it did seem soo real, amazing! The whole Pirates of The Caribbean Series just has top-notch visual effects, especially for the first 3 instalments, they were excellent for their time.
Story Line- Though it wasn't %100 accurate to how pirates acted in their golden age of the Georgian Era, pirates wouldn't help blacksmiths who helped them escape prison, they would probably kill the blacksmith and run away. It was a great story from the drama, to victories and the woes, especially Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, but that is for different reviews. It was a great debut for The Pirates of The Caribbean series, it just makes you want to watch more.
Casting- I know Johnny Depp loves to play one strange character then play a different character that is strange and isn't him, he just loves not being himself and acting normal (Neither do I!) that makes him a brilliant actor and gives him his touch. Personally, to me, his best roles were in Pirates of The Caribbean series, he was brilliant! A pirate who can be clever at times but mostly a rum-loving buccaneer is just not Depp but he did it, that makes him a great actor for the job. Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and everybody else also done a great job the casting options were great decisions.
Music and Sound Department- The crashing of the waves, dripping of water, cannonballs exploding, thunderstorms and etc. Brilliant! And of course, who doesn't love the original theme 'He's a Pirate' it is a classic theme song everybody knows it. And later on, you get 'A Pirate's Life for Me' the songs are brilliant and the sound effects.
Now before I enter the cons, I would like to say, well-done everybody! The film was great, it delivers great family entertainment. I would recommend to probably people who love history is it's a great kick at history, due to this film and the whole series I've been doing lots of research on the Georgian Era! As well as other historical eras like the Roman Era. Though probably I would say ages 10 and over and maybe 9-year-olds as some scenes are dead creepy, literally dead creepy.
Cons-
The Truth- Really this film isn't accurate to the Georgian Pirates as well pirates probably did attack the Royal Navy ships, maybe did attack other pirates but probably for one didn't have a woman on board a ship or help somebody else who isn't a part of their crew. So yes it was a great story, loved it but this was sort of the same problem The Greatest Showman (December 2017, released by 20th Century Fox) had in it not being so true, though The Greatest Showman was completely made up of lies and Pirates of The Caribbean was more truth than lies.
And honestly, I can't think of any more bad areas this movie failed at so I feel like my work is done here. Here is your short description...
Jack Sparrow. Sorry! Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is one of the greatest Pirate Lords to rule the seas, escaping one situation and another and another. Well, that is until his makeshift raft washed up at Port Royale. Nothing to fear Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) is here! Will's dearest loved one Elizabeth Swann has been kidnapped by the crew of The Black Pearl, lead by Captain Hector Barbossa! (Geoffrey Rush) But the Black Pearl has their own problems with a curse. Will the curse be broken? Will Elizabeth be free? Who knows...
