The Muppet Christmas Carol (1993)

The Muppet Christmas Carol is a movie made in 1993, written originally by Charles Dickens in 1843. It was a book and then was turned into a movie. Many people know this story because it was written by the famous author, Charles Dickens. This film version was directed by Brian Henson.

The genre of this movie is a traditional story. It has a lot of Christmas business: it has a lot of talking about work and things like that. There is a man called Ebenezer Scrooge who nobody would want to talk to. He is very mean and doesn’t let his workers have a day off for Christmas Eve and ends up letting Kermit the frog celebrate Christmas. Scrooge comes across 4 ghosts and they were Marley’s Ghost, Ghost of Christmas past, Ghost of Christmas Present, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come and he gets a weird dream.

I like this because it is not very confusing and you’ll know what is going on. It is about a man called scrooge and those people who have read the story like me will understand it. It is also like the normal Muppets and I really like the Muppets and the way it is organised.

I thought that Christmas was a good theme, but you are kind of stuck with this when you re-invent a Christmas Carol! It was interesting to see all the Christmas traditions and celebrations. I also liked how Rizzo and Gonzo narrated the story.

The thing I didn’t like about this was that I thought Scrooge would be a good guy, because it was supposed to be a Christmas movie: Christmas is supposed to be about feeling good. But, initially he was a nasty, self-centred character. However, in the end he turns good because he has a bad dream.

I would recommend this film for any die-hard Muppet fans. If you haven’t seen the Muppets before, this may be a little mad-capped for you!
