Prior to receiving this film , I hadn't heard about it and was curious to see what it was about . I thought that the idea of the film was very good ; it was a reinterpretation of a midsummer nights dream . When the film starts , there is a rather short introduction showing pictures of Barbados on postcards which I thought was a really good idea to get the viewer into the theme of the film . The landscape is stunning and I also like how there is traditional music from Barbados . The characters are based on the protaganists from a midsummer nights dream-they all were named after them - . Even though the characters spoke in the way that Shakespeare would of spoken in during his lifetime , it was still obvious that they were from present day as they carried mobile phones . At some points of the film , the plot was getting slightly thin so therefore, the film became a little bit harder to follow . The film switched between two different settings ; one mystical , magical and full of fairies and the other the busy , bustling modern day Barbados . It was almost a tunnel separating 2 completely different worlds . As well as being full of romance , this film was also full of humour . It follows a small group locals who become aware of a prize of $15 000 in a talent show . Their short play is very funny and it was one of my favourite parts of the film . After a while , the film began to become quite repative in the fact that similar events kept happening again and again and again . In my opinion , they could've made the events that did happen more exiting and mysterious instead of overpowering the whole film with lots of unnecessary information . I would recommend this film to children and families that have a particular interest in Shakespeare plays and productions . I would also recommend it to families who would just like to watch a different type of film for a change . For me it wasn't one of my favourite films - but that isn't to say that other people might not like it so why not give it a go !?
