'A Monster Calls' is a dark fantasy about a young boy, called Conor, (Lewis McDougall) who is dealing with more than any ordinary boy, he has to deal with his mother's (Felicity Jones) illness. The 1 hour and 48 minute film is filled with lots of enigmas, emotion and things that aren't always what they seem to be. The monster symbolises many things, such as The Devil, The Angel, His emotions, His Past, His future, His LITERALLY ONLY friend as well as many other things. The Tree is a SGI effect that looks more realistic than you'd "IMAGINE" and when the ground opens up (SEVERAL TIMEs) it's not the least realistic thing we've ever watched but it's the most realistic thing to this day, that has SGI in it. When the film started with the floor opened up, it left us all with feeling of wanting more. THE MAN, who will not be named, DOES NOT GET ANY MENTIONS, this is why we called him THE MAN, Eva wouldn't shut up until Mya at least made one mention of him. Liam Neeson, who may have sounded like a transformer, played a pretty intimidated monster/tree. So this film had a very emotional ending, you should watch it.
