Not every animation film can pack injustice, cruelty and a flood of emotions into something which still fits all ages from toddler to adult, however this film did this perfectly and crammed a ton of emotions into 90mins.
This film is about a young girl who finds herself in a cruel world where sexism, racism and war becomes a massive part of her day to day life. When her father gets put in prison the family begins struggle to keep themselves on their feet and so Parvana (the young girl) takes it into her own hands to undercover as a boy and feed, dress and provide for the family. There is only one person she is doing this for and that is her dad who is struggling to become freed from prison.
The characters and animation of this film was very good and made each scene very clear as to what they were trying to portray and bring across. The voices of the characters fit perfectly to each individual and the voices through each part made it clear as to what tone and atmosphere the scene was in.
Overall this movie was good and although it wasn’t my normal film and didn’t expect to enjoy it, it wasn’t as bad as I thought however I wouldn’t take time to watch it again. In some places it was quite slow and boring but it got the point across as to show girls can be just as able as boys and showcases the timing of the war. It goes over some main events in history and highlights the importance of peace now
