Johnny Depp adds another compelling eccentric to his repertoire, bringing deadpan wit to the undead in his role as Barnabas Collins.

Dark Shadows

5 stars

05 Sep 2019

On Wednesday I watched a brand new film for me this horror/love story film was called Dark Shadows that stars Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins who once was a rich and powerful man and happily in love with Josette DuPres until a witch whose name was Angelique killed his first love because he did not love her. So with Angelique's heart broken she turns Barnabas into a vampire and lock him up for his own doom. After two centuries he escapes his tomb to find out he is in the year 1972 and Collinport is so different to how he remembers it and his beloved home has fallen into ruin. Now with the help from his family Barnabas must save the town from the witch Angelique before she destroys his whole life again. I think Dark Shadows should be watched by adults and children over the age of 12 years because Tim Burton has made the film with a heavy make-up and Gothic design. It might be too scary for children under 13, with some scenes that may also disturb slightly older teens and some adults but if you like vampire films that has a little bit of horror then watch it
