Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

The movie I’ll be doing is Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I expect a romance with the main protagonist and a man she knows but we don’t know yet, I also expect there to be a big build up during the plot which then executes the solution perfectly. In addition to this, I expect the main protagonist to be flirtatious and smart but open-minded, also I think she’ll be dressed very fashionable and have her hair always done to perfection, and her makeup. Furthermore, in this movie, the female protagonist, Holly Golightly, is an expensive escort in New York, who is searching for a rich man to marry, however she meets a young man who moves into the same apartment building as her he is also dating an older, married woman, the older woman is also wealthy but the young man wants to be a writer but is in a writer’s block as he hasn’t published anything in 5 years. Holly and the writer Paul quickly become friends as he reminds her of her brother, Fred, who is enlisted in the army, Eventually Paul falls for Holly and wants to do everything for her, instead of being taken care of for once, in Pauls situation is with the older woman called Emily who takes care of him and gets him anything he wanted. It also seems to be that Holly is falling for Paul although she’s going to marry the next president of Brazil, however they end up together. In my opinion, the plot doesn’t make sense and isn’t easy to follow as through majority of the movie I was lost on what was happening, and the plot confused me, and I believe it isn’t believable enough as a plot. Moreover, I did not enjoy the movie because I found it boring and definitely wasn’t my style of movie, also the good points in the movie was the lighting, it was perfectly lit for the way New York is, however a bad point was the dialogue, I felt like it was too forced and didn’t flow well, but the way the cast portrayed there characters was good even with the bad dialogue as you could really feel their emotions and could tell what they were feeling during their scenes as they all had strong acting skills. Lastly, a scene most memorable to me was the fire escape one right at the beginning because I enjoyed it as it was a romantic setting, their dynamic was very interesting at the beginning and it was the beginning of a blossoming relationship as we saw their chemistry and development during those scenes, that’s what made it good and memorable, however, a scene that was memorable because of the emotion was the one at the end when Holly threw her cat out of the car in the rain and then her and Paul got into an argument, he got out and she was left in the car crying, this scene felt full of raw emotions, the setting when she got out and ran after him felt real and romantic as it was in the rain, this made it a memorable scene as the emotions felt real and had a huge impact on the audience.
