War Of The Buttons is a fairly funny classic which can get crazy and at times quite upsetting. None of my friends had seen the film and so I had no idea about the storyline or what to expect. When the film started I remember thinking that the film didn't seem that appealing and I wasn't looking forward to watching it. It was only when the storyline began to flow that I began to feel more excited about the film.
The film is about two rival gangs which are constantly fighting, separated by a river. It is set in the Irish countryside which meant that not a lot of new characters where introduced throughout the film but that was ok because the characters were all original and amusing to watch. However, a down side about the movie is that all the characters have a very strong Irish accent making it at times difficult to understand what they are saying which takes away some of the excitement in the movie (I found it hard to enjoy the more dramatic scenes when I could hardly understand what they where saying).
I remember when we first where told about this movie being our next film, I remember thinking "sounds like a boring movie about war my grandad watches" and that meant that I wasn't looking forward to seeing it. But it took me about ten minutes and I was intrigued. The characters are all witty and funny if a little wild and nothing like the kids I hang out with at school.
Overall an extremely good movie but a little too old-fashioned which meant some of the graphics where blurry meaning the characters faces where harder to distinguish. A good movie for people who like watching friendship, fighting and drama. It reminded me of Billy Elliot and other films like it, a classic but not the kind of boring soppy ones that old ladies watch in care homes whilst knitting. The film was exciting, unique but I found certain elements a little boring and not my thing.
