Shutter Island (2010)

A psychological thriller that right from the get go portrayed an ominous and tense "Ashcliffe" through the use of intense orchestral music. We're told, it is a remote and craggy island off Boston, where a Civil War-era fort has been adapted as a prison for the criminally insane. We approach it by boat through lowering skies and gloomy sea fill the visitor with dread. Throughout the movie the unexpected twists and turns keep you glued to the screen. Until the end when an unexpected plot twist that no one saw coming happens and you learn the truth about Leonardo Di Caprio's character. The brilliant acting and and carefully planned set and lighting bring the story of the movie together to create a masterpiece.
