This movie honestly doesn't deserve five stars but my I love Tim Burton films too much, so, yeah. Also, I want to make clear that I know Tim Burton didn't direct this film and Henry Selick did, but the story and characters were created by Tim Burton and the only reason he didn't direct it was because he was busy directing other films. Again, just wanted to make this clear. I'll start the review with story.
Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town gets fed up of celebrating Halloween and and stumbles across Christmas Town and wants to celebrate it this year, this time time, but the problem is that Jack and the citizens of Halloween Town can't celebrate Christmas properly unlike Santa Claus and his elves. I honest to God love this concept, it's so creative and I can't shut up about it. I would give the story a 10/10. Onto the characters.
There isn't enough characters to focus on, I will admit. But so far, we Jack Skellington who want's wants something new in his life, which I like since this is a relatable thing we all have to encounter at one point, but Sally, she's sorta boring. She has feeling for Sally. That's pretty much it. And then there's Shock, Lock and Barrel who are basically the best characters and sing the best song. They're also the henchmen of the Oogie Booggie Man who's the bad guy. I would give the characters a 7/10. Now let's move on to the best part, dA sOnGs!
I don't know how to describe a song in a review, so I'll just give them a 8/10. Next is the animation.
Considering how this a stop-motion movie made in 1993 I have to give it credit. The animation just a TINY wee bit stiff, but other than that, I like it, I also love the art style.
This movie, is one of Tim Burton and Henry Selick's best piece of art and is an all time classic. Right, I have other things to do, so, bye!
