A Revolutionary Film For Its Time

4 stars

02 Dec 2019

Jurassic Park is a 1993 action, horror, sci-fi film directed by Steven Spielberg, known for E.T, Back To The Future, Schindler's List, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and many more films. When this film was released it's special effects were revolutionary with its combination of puppetry, animatronics and CGI, while not breathtaking for todays standards it still holds up and in some cases is very effective. Another thing this film excels as is its building of tension in creative and un-orthodox ways, such was the rippling of water. This film balances genres in a very delicate way due to this everything flows very well and the tones never seem jarring or out of place. The score aids this film in many ways by providing a backbone in the tone of the scenes and never feeling as though it is too blatant or undercutting the visuals themselves, this score was composed by John Williams who is also known for Jaws, Indiana Jones, The Harry Potter Films, Home Alone and more. In summary this is an outstanding film from an outstanding director that I would suggest to anyone.
