Mr Popper is a self indulgent workaholic who one day discovers a box for him. He just ignores the box until the next night and inside the crate was a penguin. In the following days more penguins arrive at his door. You find out that Mr Popper has many problems with his family, such as his daughter is going through a difficult time because of boyfriends. At first Mr Popper absolutely hated these little birds, but as the film goes on he grows a close relationship with them and gives them all sorts of names like: Loudy, Bitey, Stinky and Nimrod . Mr Popper made a mistake by calling animal services to collect the penguins until he discovers two of the penguins have fallen pregnant. Mr Popper sees his children begin to love the penguins so he tries to keep them but the zookeeper insists he takes them.
My favourite part of the film was definitely when the inside of his house becomes a winter wonderland including a slide and an ice rink. It has a subtle sense of humour and a very twisted story line. The film reminded me of the film Lion king because of all the animals.
I would recommend this film to anyone looking for a nice family night in with a takeaway. This film is very heart warming and shows you many lessons in mother nature.
