This is a science fiction film set in the harsh conditions of space. The drama unfolds as a space mission goes horribly wrong and the survivors Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) and Matt kowalski (George Clooney) are left alone in the vacuum known as space. They must work together to make it back to earth in one piece but even that doesn't go as planned. My favourite scene is when Ryan and Matt are alone in space as the graphics were really stunning.
The soundtrack of this science fiction film is really fast which matched the pace of the film. During this film I found myself constantly on the edge of my seat partially due to the sound effects including the music. The other sound effects were also really gripping especially the breathing and heartbeats.
There were lots of visually stunning parts of this film which really make it come to life and feel real.I think the visuals of this film make the pace of it feel a lot faster that it actually is as they are really breathtaking and unimaginable.
I found that this film felt really action packed even though the pace was quite slow and the long drawn out shots were used to build tension. They included a lot of differently angled shots instead of just one basic one which added to the authentic space setting. This film really made me feel worried for the characters and like I was there.
In this film there are really gripping moments of stress (I worry every time) but also moments of relief such as when she makes it aboard the space station and they survive the crash.Even though this film is slightly stressful It is a MUST see for everyone. This science fiction film is beautifully crafted as it is visually stunning.I think the weakest part of this movie was parts of the plot as they couldn't actually happen in space and broke the setting.
This film is good for anyone who likes space stories and action films. I think this film is aimed mostly at people aged 12+ as both me and my family enjoyed watching it together. However some of the scenes might be disturbing for young children.
For anyone who enjoys this film I would definitely recommend other space films such as Apollo 11 although this is more exciting and action packed as you don’t know what will happen next.
