When hearing the title 'Battle of the sexes', you may groan and think 'It's one of those films'. But Battle of the Sexes is a very entertaining dramady with plenty of wit regarding it's feminist themes. What I liked especially about this film is it's focus on the details leading up to the 'battle' that it so important, looking at it from both sides. Showing where Bobby Riggs is coming from has as much importance as Billie Jean King's. What's also notible is the film doesn't shy away from Billie Jean's queerness, which other bigraphicial films would be quick to erase. The acting is brilliant, with Emma Stone and Steve Carell really defining their characters and making them feel as real as the people they're portraying. Andrea Riseboroughh also gives a superb performance as Marilyn; the woman Billie Jean has an affair with. If she was touching my hair like that, I would leave Larry too. There's also performances from Sarah Silverman and Alan Cumming which are very entertaining. Overall, Battle of the Sexes is a witty, gripping film that will have you on the edge of your seat by the time the Battle commences
