Clueless (1995)

From the first scene alone you can instantly tell who cher and her friends are. In my opinion from the first few minutes, you can tell that cher is a stereotypical blonde portrayed in most american movies. Also her friends seem stereotypical as well in my opinion, this might be because of the year in which the film was created though.

You can see that Cher is quite selfish, as when she receives her report card she goes as far as setting up her two teachers within the story to become a couple. She did all this to raise her grades to impress her father, which in return greatly impressed him. In my opinion this shows Cher’s resilience in getting what she wants, which is honestly quite impressive to me.

The thing that I enjoyed the most in this movie was Cher’s relationship with her friends and family. There are many scenes that I found quite hilarious, solely because of Cher’s interaction’s with her friends. The entirety of the first house party scene is a great example of this, there are many funny gags and jokes in this sequence to me. For example I found Cher’s valiant attempts at setting up Tai with Elton quite hilarious.

Cher’s character development over the course of the film is very pleasing to watch. She goes from the average stereotypical blonde, to a not so stereotypical blonde. For example she starts doing a lot of charity work, she becomes less selfish and realises her feelings for Josh. All while being quite hilarious while doing so, she also still retains the same charm she has from the start.

The ending of the movie is quite conclusive and satisfying yet still finds a way to be funny, overall my feelings towards this movie are quite positive. The humour in the film can sometimes be hit or miss, it depends on your personal sense of humour. The characters are somewhat stereotypical, but are also funny in their own ways. In conclusion i’d recommend watching this film if you like a good

rom-com, since i did enjoy the film quite a lot.
