The Breadwinner is about a girl who lives in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. Parvana, one of the main characters, has to disguise herself as a boy to help her family. This heart-warming, drama animation is based on a book and set in 2001 when the Taliban took over. It puts viewers in the perspective of Parvana who has to provide for her family after an incident. The film shows the pressure and responsibility that she must provide for her family at only 11 yrs old. She puts herself through risky situations just because of their unjustly laws at such a harsh time. I enjoyed the intensity of some scenes and how the film shows the dangers that children were raised and played in. Overall the film conveys a great message of awareness and I highly recommend to people in the age bracket of 10-14.
